What STRAP Is

STRAP (Strategic Trauma, Accountability & Prevention) is a structured, court-aligned youth intervention program designed to support safety, accountability, and long-term behavioral stability for youth impacted by trauma, exploitation risk, and high-risk behaviors. STRAP provides education, accountability, and prevention-focused instruction—not therapy—through guided courses, mentoring, and monitored participation. The program is designed to help youth understand risk, regulate behavior, strengthen decision-making, and develop practical plans for safety and reintegration. STRAP operates through referral-based enrollment and maintains clear expectations, progress tracking, and reporting when required by courts or supervising authorities.

Youth are not required to disclose personal trauma or experiences to participate. STRAP emphasizes skills, responsibility, and future-oriented planning, not forced disclosure.

What STRAP Is Not

STRAP is not a substitute for clinical therapy, psychiatric treatment, or emergency mental health services. Youth requiring intensive clinical intervention are referred to appropriate licensed providers. 
STRAP is not an open-enrollment or self-guided program. All participation occurs through referral, approval, and monitored placement, ensuring safety and appropriateness.

STRAP is not a religious, ideological, or political program. Instruction is educational, evidence-informed, and aligned with court and community safety standards.

STRAP is not a replacement for parental authority, court supervision, probation oversight, or school-based discipline. It operates in coordination with, not in place of, existing systems.

STRAP is not a confidentiality-only space. As a mandated reporter program, STRAP staff are legally required to report certain disclosures to protect youth safety.

Safety & Reporting
STRAP staff are mandated reporters under Texas law. Certain disclosures related to abuse, exploitation, or harm may be reported to appropriate authorities to protect youth safety.
